A range of matters need to be dealt with by your solicitor during a divorce or separation and we can handle all of these for you, especially, and very importantly, the formalisation of any agreements made concerning any children in the family.

Even if, as hoped, all issues can be resolved amicably, it is preferable that any agreement made is formalised and incorporated into a court order to safeguard the position of all parties concerned. We make this process as smooth and simple as possible for you and, where agreement cannot be reached, we deal thoroughly and comprehensively with the court process on your behalf.

Financial Matters

When parties separate or divorce there is a need to consider and make appropriate financial arrangements. This can cover the question of income, property, pension arrangements and other matrimonial assets. These issues range from the relatively straightforward to the complex. Any agreement made between the parties should again be incorporated into a court order as mentioned above, to provide certainty for the future. Again, where agreement cannot be reached we will deal thoroughly and comprehensively with the court process on your behalf.

What happens on the breakdown of the relationship?

1. Cohabitation – The term ‘common law marriage’ is a fallacy. We can deal with all matters arising from such a breakdown.

2. Civil Partnerships – The Civil Partnerships Act 2004 came into operation on December 05th 2005, enabling same-sex couples to register as civil partners of each other. Civil partnerships can, of course, also break down and permission must be sought from the court to end any such partnership. We can also deal with all matters relating to the dissolution of a civil partnership.

Legal Aid (Community Legal Service Funding)

As a small company, we are unfortunately not able to offer Legal Aid, as we do not hold a Legal Aid franchise. The nearest solicitors offering this service are based in Evesham and the website www.clsdirect.org.uk offers an eligibility calculator and a list of firms who hold the relevant franchise.
